Corrales, New Mexico Real Estate and Community Info.

A small, quaint village just north of Albuquerque, Corrales is a treasured jewel in the heart of one of the fastest growing regions in the Southwest. To the northwest lies Rio Rancho, one of Money Magazine’s “100 best places to live.” Bordered by the Rio Grande and the Sandia Indian Reservation, the town’s friendly, bucolic lifestyle is furthered by the area’s green pastures, fertile farmland, and abundant orchards. Though incorporated only about forty years ago, Corrales’ history dates back as far as 500 A.D.

Shopping and Dining

This historic village is home to a fine array of retail shops, small boutiques, and cozy restaurants. From art galleries, to home furnishing, to gifts, accessories, and clothing, you’ll find it all in Corrales. For exquisite mirrors, sculptures, and more, make sure to stop by Claywork. A delightful bistro brunch is held every day at Corrales Bistro Brewery. There are also a number of wineries in the village, including: Acequia Vineyards & Winery and the Corrales Winery.

Parks and Recreation

Corrales’ parks and recreation facilities include a community pool, where residents can cool off, relax, swim laps, or take lessons. Through the heart of the village, along the tree-lined acequia, runs a flat, shady, jogging trail. In September, the trail is host to the Corrida de Corrales, a 5K and 10K run held during the annual Harvest Festival. La Entrada Park has an updated children’s playground. Pony rides, vaulting lessons, summer camps, and other equine activities are offered at the LazyRiver Pony.

Living

Downtown Corrales is the center of the village’s culture and social events. Sunday in the Village is held every third Sunday and features Art in the Park, the Grower’s Market, and various special activities organized by the village’s shops, galleries, wineries, and restaurants. Seasonal parades, such as the December Starlight Parade and the 4th of July parade, kick off the holiday celebrations. The annual Corrales Harvest Festival occurs each September and lasts for two entire days. People from all over the region come to partake in the festivities.

Schools, Health, Transportation

The Albuquerque Public Schools district serves the children of Corrales, and operates the Corrales Elementary School on Target Road. There are also several private schools in the area, including the Cottonwood School and the Corrales International School. Health care and emergency services are easily accessible in nearby Albuquerque or at the newly opened Presbyterian Rust Medical Center in Rio Rancho. There is an Amtrak station located just 10.6 miles from the center of Corrales. The Albuquerque International Airport is less than 15 minutes away.
