Fifty-one miles south of Santa Fe and twenty miles east of Albuquerque, the small town of Edgewood is an oasis of large, rural lots within easy commuting distance of all that New Mexico’s most popular cities have to offer.
Shopping and Dining
A majority of the town’s shops and restaurants are located along historic Route 66. An expanding commercial district has spurred many new developments over the past five years, including: new supermarkets, a national pharmacy, and a major car dealership. A Wal-Mart opened in 2008. For more options, residents can make the short drive to Albuquerque and enjoy the Cottonwood Mall and one of the city’s 130 restaurants.
Parks and Recreation
Edgewood is just minutes from the breath-taking Sandia Wilderness, home to the Sandia Peak Ski and Tramway. Over 117 miles of well-maintained, marked trails provide the perfect avenue for hiking, mountain biking, and observing the wonderful view. Fishing and camping are also major past-times in the Edgewood community.
Living
Affordable housing, only 20-25 minutes from the thriving center of Albuquerque, is a major reason people move to Edgewood. Large, inexpensive lots leave plenty of room to roam and raise horses. Its close proximity to a number of science and research centers, such as the Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Sandia Technology Park, make it an ideal home for technological research professionals.

Schools, Health, Transportation
The children of Edgewood are served by the Moriarty-Edgewood School District, which operates five elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school in the area. The University of New Mexico in Albuquerque offers around 200 degree and certificate programs.
Residents can obtain local medical treatment at a number of Edgewood medical centers, such as the Edgewood Pediatric Clinic and the McLeod Medical Center. For intense medical care and emergency services, residents can travel approximately twenty minutes west on I-40 to obtain care at any of Albuquerque’s major hospitals, including the Lovelace Women’s Hospital and the Presbyterian Hospital. Air and rail travel are also easily accessible through Albuquerque, which has both an Amtrak station and a major airport.
