Los Lunas real estate and homes for sale

Los Lunas, New Mexico Real Estate and Community Info.

The village of Los Lunas, New Mexico, sits about 20 miles south of Albuquerque along the Rio Grande River.

Los Lunas real estate has been extremely popular over the last 10 years. Its growth and popularity is evident in several ways, but perhaps the population numbers tell the tale best.

According to City-Data.com, the population change from 2000 to 2009 was +43%. At that time, the village contained 14,362 happy souls. The U.S. census in the very next year, 2010, listed nearly 25,000 people living in Los Lunas.

The village takes its name from the Luna family, the area’s original settlers. In 1876, Los Lunas became the county seat of Valencia County and in 1928, officially became an incorporated village.

Shopping and Dining

Los Lunas real estate boasts a wealth of local, original and unique shops, restaurants and a diverse selection of entertainment options.

Oh sure, all of the glitz and glamour of a modern metropolis are available only a short drive away in Albuquerque; however, Los Lunas residents have a full range of shopping and dining opportunities right down the street.

Fine dining, family restaurants, fast food and everything in between can be found here in this charming village. The choices are as varied as you and your family’s tastes. Some of the local favorites include Henrietta’s Dining & Coffee Shop, T.J.’s New Mexican Restaurant, Luna Mansion Restaurant, Tractor Brewing Co., Crystal Ranch Steakhouse & Saloon, and Benny’s II.

Parks and Recreation

The Village of Los Lunas Parks and Recreation Department manages a full complement of athletic and more passive recreational options. It accomplishes this through the hard work and dedication of the people who run the following divisions:

Recreation Division - presents special events for the community. It also administers the village’s park reservation permits and fees.

Facility Maintenance Division - administers the Parks and Recreation Maintenance (PRM) operation, which includes all park buildings and facilities. It performs all construction, maintenance and repairs to these facilities in Los Lunas.

Open Space Division - established in June of 2007, this division manages conservation and preservation efforts, including Park Rangers, natural resources, rules and regulations enforcement, emergency response and visitor assistance.

Parks Division – manages the upkeep of Los Lunas’ 17 neighborhood and community parks, as well as its various athletic activities for adults and youths, such as football, softball, soccer volleyball and baseball.

Sports and Fitness Division – provides recreational programs and classes in activities like paintball, myriad exercise programs, and athletic teams and leagues.

Street Division – maintains the Village of Los Lunas’ more than 50 miles of paved and eight miles of gravel roadways.
